Logic ICs perform fixed digital functions used to control, route, store or translate binary signals. The category includes gates, inverters, buffers, transceivers, multiplexers, decoders, counters, flip-flops, latches, registers, comparators, parity devices and multivibrators. These parts provide deterministic control, signal conditioning, bus expansion and voltage-domain interfacing in embedded, industrial, automotive, computing and communication equipment.

Select the required logic function, channel count and truth table first, then choose a compatible logic family. Check supply range, input thresholds, output levels and drive current, including whether inputs are TTL-compatible, Schmitt-triggered or overvoltage tolerant. Compare propagation delay, maximum switching rate, quiescent and dynamic current, fan-out, output type and power-off behavior. For sequential devices, verify clock edge, setup and hold times, reset state and enable controls. Confirm package, pinout, temperature grade and automotive or other qualification before substitution.
