Inductors, chokes and coils store energy in a magnetic field and are used for power conversion, current smoothing, filtering, EMI suppression, impedance control and energy transfer. The Antrex category is organized into Coupled Inductors and Fixed Inductors, covering single-winding components for general power and signal applications as well as magnetically coupled windings for SEPIC, flyback, common energy-storage and multi-rail converter designs. These components are widely used in switching power supplies, DC/DC converters, industrial electronics, automotive systems, communications equipment and embedded hardware.

Choose between fixed and coupled inductors according to the circuit topology first. For fixed inductors, verify inductance, tolerance, DC resistance, rated current, saturation current, self-resonant frequency, core material, shielding and package size. Power-conversion designs should account for current ripple, peak current, copper loss, core loss and temperature rise rather than relying only on nominal inductance. For coupled inductors, also confirm winding ratio, coupling coefficient, leakage inductance, winding polarity, isolation where applicable and current balance between windings. Switching frequency strongly influences core choice and loss behavior, while high-frequency signal applications require attention to Q factor, SRF and parasitic capacitance. Across both groups, check operating temperature, thermal derating, mounting style, termination, vibration requirements, qualification and lifecycle status. Replacement parts should be matched by inductance under operating current, saturation behavior, DCR, magnetic construction, footprint and application topology, because two parts with the same nominal inductance may perform very differently under load.
