FPGA and CPLD evaluation boards provide a ready hardware platform for learning a programmable-logic family, testing HDL designs and developing embedded or high-speed interfaces. A board normally includes a specific FPGA, CPLD or adaptive SoC together with configuration memory, clocks, power rails, JTAG access and basic user I/O. Confirm that the required design-software edition and version supports the device, and whether a node-locked or time-limited license is included. Check the kit for its power adapter, USB or JTAG cable, memory card and expansion hardware. Match I/O-bank voltages, clocks, boot mode, configuration and external memory, and connector pinouts to the project. Verify reference-design versions, IP-core licenses, operating-system support and lifecycle before replacing an older board.
