About Evaluation Boards

Evaluation boards are manufacturer-designed hardware platforms for testing an integrated circuit, sensor, power device, processor, interface or other electronic function before creating a custom design. They typically expose important signals, configuration points and test connections, and may include onboard power, communication interfaces or support circuitry. Depending on the product, the board may be used for electrical characterization, firmware development, proof of concept or comparison of operating modes.

Select by exact ordering code and supported device or revision. Review the user guide, schematic, board version and bill of materials, then confirm the kit contents; cables, controller cards, adapters, power supplies and licenses may be separate. Check input power, host interface, operating-system and software versions, programming or debug tools, test equipment and accessories. Observe voltage, current, thermal and ESD limits. An evaluation board is a development tool rather than a certified finished product, and its layout or protection may not suit production or EMC qualification without further design work.
