About Fuses

Fuses are non-resettable overcurrent protection devices that open a circuit when excessive current melts their calibrated element. This category includes surface-mount, axial and radial lead, cartridge, automotive blade and bolt-down fuses for electronics, vehicles, industrial equipment, power supplies and energy systems. Available characteristics include fast-acting, time-delay and application-specific semiconductor, battery or high-voltage protection, with ceramic, glass or molded bodies and optional indication.

Select by normal current, maximum AC or DC voltage and available short-circuit current. Voltage rating and interrupting capacity must meet or exceed the circuit requirements. Check the time-current curve, melting and clearing I²t, voltage drop and tolerance against startup, inrush and pulse conditions. Apply the manufacturer's temperature and continuous-load derating, then verify dimensions, mounting, holder compatibility and required UL, IEC or automotive approvals. A matching ampere rating alone does not ensure interchangeability; confirm the exact series data and coordination with wiring and downstream components.
